2019年年底，故宮南院規劃了「奇幻嘉年華」特展，展出當代幾座頂尖博物館，以其鎮館作品延伸創作的VR，包括慕夏的〈斯拉夫史詩〉系列、羅浮宮的〈蒙娜麗莎〉、橘園美術館的〈睡蓮〉⋯⋯等等。讓觀賞者神遊於東西方形塑美學上的不同想像。羅浮宮讓蒙娜麗莎本人現身，破解坊間流傳的謠言；而橘園美術館則延伸莫內的畫作，至畫家一生的摯愛-紀梵尼花園，創作出令人屏息的美麗作品。

故宮在過去5年來，也陸續挑戰虛擬實境作品，維持一貫的中心思考：希望引領觀眾走入畫中。被挑選創作VR的包括趙孟頫名作〈鵲華秋色〉、唐代懷素的草書作品〈自敍帖〉等。2020年更結合新科技，將視覺互動裝置帶入黃公望的〈富春山居圖〉、並擴張朗世寧〈百駿圖〉的聲音場域，讓聽覺也有如同視覺般沉浸式的感受。

為了呈現體驗虛擬實境時身歷其境的真實感，藝術很有事團隊特別協商台大及北科大師生，一起打造能結合體驗者與所處VR情境的攝影棚，讓沒戴VR頭盔的你，也能走入博物館名作的虛擬世界中。

【Enter the virtual world of renowned paintings - VR in the museum】

At the end of 2019, the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum presented an exhibition titled “A Carnival of Fantasies”, which showcased VR projects produced by several of the finest contemporary museums today, based on their most important artworks, such as Mucha's "The Slav Epic", the Louvre's "Mona Lisa", and Musée de l'Orangerie's "Water Lilies". These exhibitions allow visitors to explore the different imaginative forces shaping Eastern and Western aesthetics. The Louvre let Mona Lisa appear in front of the audience to dispel the prevailing rumors about her, and the Musée de l'Orangerie expanded Monet's painting to his most loved garden of Giverny to create a breathtakingly beautiful VR world.

Over the past five years, the National Palace Museum has also been consistently producing VR works while keeping with its central objective, which has always been to guide the visitors into the paintings. Works that have been selected for a VR interpretation include Zhao Mengfu's masterpiece "Autumn Colors on the Qiao and Hua Mountains" and the cursive calligraphy work "Huaisu's Autobiography" by Tang dynasty calligrapher Huaisu. In 2020, the museum has also applied new technologies in areas such as introducing interactive visuals to Huang Gongwang's "Traveling around Fu-Chun River" and expanding the audio space of Castiglione's "One Hundred Horses" in order to create an immersive experience that places equal emphasis on both the audio and visual aspects.

In order to present the realistic immersive experience created by VR technology, “Inside the Arts” has worked with a group of teachers and students from National Taiwan University and National Taipei University of Technology to create a studio that allows the audience to have a VR experience even without the use of a VR headset. This way, everyone will be able to step into the virtual worlds of these artistic masterpieces!
