While Baobao and music producer Tim were working in Australia at the end of 2015, they became concerned that climate change and raising sea levels could impact maritime environments and surrounding island cultures. The two soon packed their lives into their car and set out from Alice Springs in the heart of the Australian outback. Their dream was to visit various tribes to work with Austronesian musicians across the Pacific and Indian oceans.
They had no idea their dream would carry them into the end of 2019. Together they visited 16 islands and worked with dozens of local artists, singing songs for Mother Earth, to complete an album, a musical documentary, and to organize 50 performances for a world tour. BaoBao and Tim also invited each musician to make music in their mother tongues in order to connect larger Austronesian cultures.
